Dear players,

Five months late. There is no way to dress that up, so we won't try - the update we promised for our 10th anniversary is finally here, and every extra month it took is on us.

What we said back then still holds: we kept pushing the date because we were not happy with how the content was landing, not because it was sitting finished on a shelf. Since that post the update has grown well past what was originally planned - a whole second city, a car with a tuning list longer than most of our previous car updates, new challenge types, and a pile of fixes we would not have gotten to otherwise.

VCB

The star of this update is the VCB - a new A class car, and one of the most heavily tuneable cars we have ever shipped.
  • Brand new model with a full custom tuning tree - front and rear ends, bodykits, headlight and taillight sets, roof types, interiors, rollcages, spoilers and more
  • Multiple complete "identities" in one car - C4, C5, Sledgehammer, G572, Lingenfelter and more, each with matching front, skirt, rear and light options
  • Roof options include hard top, hatch, inverted hatch and spyder, with targa variants
  • Unlocked by completing the two-part Road to VCB challenge chain, after which it becomes purchasable at the Car Lot.

We are bringing the 80s to NFS:SA. Vice City joins the server as a second world - neon, palms, sunsets and all.
  • This is a beta release. Vice City is currently available in Challenges and Custom Races only
  • Part 2 is planned and will bring full Freerun access to the city
  • The city ships as a large one-time download, so expect a longer first join after this update


New Maps
Four new tracks, all set in Vice City - three of them with reverse layouts:
  • Vice Route and Vice Route [R] - Circuit (nide)
  • Starfish Retreat and Starfish Retreat [R] - Sprint (nide)
  • Vice Port Terminal and Vice Port Terminal [R] - Circuit (Remolit)
  • Point Loop - Circuit (Remolit)
More tracks will come over the weeks.

New Rims - RacingHart

Five new RacingHart rims join the tuning menu. The RacingHart Rims Pack is unlockable with a TaskPoint in F10, same as the other rim packs.

Challenges
The challenge series has been rewritten from the ground up - logic, UI and performance.

Three new challenge sets :
  1. Set 24 - Road to VCB: Part 1 - unlocks at 3,000,000 bounty. Rewards $15,000 and access to Part 2
  2. Set 25 - Road to VCB: Part 2 - unlocked by finishing Part 1. Unlocks the VCB
  3. Set 26 - Vice Points Challenge Set I - unlocks at 230,000 RP. Rewards $10,000, 1 TP, 15 BP and 10 VP
New challenge types :
  • Versus - Circuit and Sprint races against a rival you actually have to beat on track
  • Police Interception - get from A to B before the clock runs out, with the entire department in the way
  • Hot Race - a normal race, except the cops join in. Marked with a flame badge on the challenge button
Other challenge changes :
  • New challenge options - dynamic time of day and multi-song playlists
  • Challenge result is now folded into the RACE OVER screen as CHALLENGE COMPLETED / FAILED instead of a separate popup
  • Circuit Time Attack now ends the moment you beat the target time
  • Challenge info panel on F2
  • Plenty of UI fixes and optimization work


Pursuits
  • New heat-change visuals - the heat number and icon pop on change, plus an NFS:MW style sky flash on every heat step
  • Faster heat gain at low heat levels if your car has high enough score
  • Bounty popup moved and reworked
  • General pursuit balance pass - cop counts, respawn behaviour, speed and mass tuning
  • (Hopefully) Fixed cops spawning directly in your path at high speed
  • Fixed cop center of mass not being applied
  • Fixed god-mode cops


Rewards
From now on, the baseline reward multiplier for the whole server is 1.5x. Not an event, not a bonus weekend - this is the new normal.


Other changes and fixes
  • Vinyls Lite Mode - an option that greatly reduces how much memory vinyls use. If you have been running into stutters, out of memory errors or MTA crashes, turn this on. It is in the settings menu (F11 - Video - Advanced - Lite mode)
  • Rebuilt race finish camera
  • Chat filter
  • LOD and streaming fixes
  • Police car dyno and AI fixes
  • Various map, handling and UI fixes

Dalmatia was a planned map expansion for NFSSA. It was headed by former NFSSA dev Venon, since 2017 we have not seen any more posts regarding the expansion, and it was supposed that it was cancelled with Venon's departure. But now, with the current opportunity coming, we asked for the expansion release. It can be just the wip files, it can be buggy, but we want its release, because it's part of NFSSA history, and it must not be forgotten.

C, D, and E Class Handling Rebalance

The NFS:SA Team continues the handling overhaul with a comprehensive rebalance of C, D, and E class vehicles. Following the successful A and B class updates from earlier this year, Remolit has brought new life to the mid and lower tier classes.

[E Class] - Every vehicle now has very distinct characteristics. The class has become slightly slower than before, owing to Drivetrain bug fix.
[D Class] - Is no longer slower than E class around the track. Follows E class' differing characteristics, and had drivetype changes - Vincent and Previon to RWD; Kuruma to FWD.
[C Class] - Class of undrivable death traps no more, each car is now more capable and enjoyable to drive. Most notably, Blista is now the only FWD of the class - Flash and Uranus have been swapped to AWD, and Euros to RWD.

Note: every updated class had the Drivetrain bug fixed - the speedometer displaying 4 gears is not indicative of the bug being active.

Important: Top times for C, D, and E classes have been frozen and new records will not be registered until further notice. 
This allows for community testing and potential fine-tuning before leaderboards reopen. Pre-update records can still be viewed on the forum.
